Ann Wagner, MAAnn Wagner photo | Practical Leadership.com | consulting training facilitation, started Practical Leadership in early 1998 after a 20-year career in hospitality and retail, where she specialized in human resources and organizational development. Ann is an expert strategist with passion and skills for building stronger organizations by aligning employees, teams and leaders around smart strategy for optimal results. Her facilitation skills engage leaders in meaningful dialogue, robust exchange of ideas, and powerful visioning.

Ann joined Grand Casinos, Inc. in 1991 as corporate VP of education and associate development. Six years later, she assumed responsibility for the corporate HR and communications functions as well. When she left Grand Casinos in 1998, it had approximately 18,000 employees and operations in four states.

Ann began her career at Dayton’s Department Store, an early predecessor of today’s Target Corporation. For ten years, through 1987, Ann was the director of HR for Berman’s, The Leather Experts. In 1988, she became a partner in the Wagner Retail Group, where she specialized in human resource strategy, customer service training and management development for a range of service businesses.

Ann earned her Master’s in organizational leadership from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN.

In addition to her work with Practical Leadership, she is program director for Normandale Community College in Bloomington, MN. As part of her commitment to the community she serves as a volunteer career development instructor for WomenVenture, a non-profit career and business development services center based in St. Paul, MN. This organization recognized Ann’s generous service with their Volunteer of the Year award. She also is an active member in several professional associations and recently served on the ASTD-TCC Board.


Karen Lund brings expertise as the productivity and profitability strategist. Using her 30 years experience, she works with organizations that want to grow and with CEO’S and business leaders that want more effective methods of increasing and measuring performance. Her experience with an international consulting firm offered her opportunities to take on positions of Project Management, Director of Training and Vice President of Operations for the Australian Unit. Karen has completed consulting projects in over l00 industries in both the United States and the Pacific Rim. Through group facilitation, interactive training, coaching, team building and hands-on work within an organization, Karen is able to assist companies in increasing and enhancing productivity and performance.
